If you are a Vancity member and think you may have been the victim of fraud, unauthorized online or debit card transaction activity, or that the security of your personal and financial information has been compromised, report the incident to us immediately.

External phishing alert

October 18, 2018 – An external phishing email has been detected that leads people to a fraudulent third-party website that closely resembles Vancity.com. (See screenshot). This is being sent by someone else and is NOT a legitimate email from Vancity.

Equifax alert

December 14, 2017, UPDATE – Equifax Canada, one of two service providers for credit bureau reporting in Canada, has revised its estimate on the number of Canadians potentially impacted by a security breach of its servers earlier this year. More than 19,000 Canadians were potentially affected.

Any member with concerns about the breach should contact Equifax directly at 1-866-828-5961 or email EquifaxCanadaInquiry@Equifax.com. For more information, visit www.consumer.equifax.ca.

We share our members concerns about the breach and are closely monitoring the situation. As a regular security precaution, we encourage Vancity members to check their monthly account statements – banking and credit card – and report any anomalies.

IRB and RCMP alert

December 13, 2017 – There is an ongoing telephone scam targeting refugee and immigrant communities. Callers are claiming to represent the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) or RCMP and demanding money.

If you receive a call of this nature, do not comply with any of the demands and instead contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. If you believe that you have fallen victim to fraud, call your local police as soon as possible.
