Championing the Living Wage by joining a growing number of employers being certified under Metro Vancouver's Living Wage Employer program.
Partnering
  • on affordable housing initiatives with Westbank Developments and project partners Portland Hotel Society and Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing on West Cordova Street in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, one of Canada's poorest neighbourhoods. Read more affordable housing stories.
  • Vancity and the BC Centre for Ability: Vancity is committed to being a leader in providing a welcoming, inclusive and respectful workplace that reflects the diverse communities it serves. Vancity embraces diversity, with intention, and aims to enhance its capacity to attract, recruit and retain persons with disabilities. To develop a comprehensive framework for inclusion and execute on it, Vancity has partnered with the BC Centre for Ability for consultation on creating and sustaining an inclusive workplace for people with disabilities.
Joining the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, an independent network of banks throughout the world using finance to deliver sustainable development for underserved people, communities and environmental initiatives.
Facing poverty by being an active member and financial supporter of the BC Poverty Reduction Coalition (BCPRC) for a number of years. In 2009 we were one of the original signatories in an open letter to BC political parties [PDF] calling for a comprehensive and province-wide poverty reduction strategy. Learn more.
Leading by example on carbon neutrality. In 2008 Vancity was proud to become the first North American financial institution to become carbon neutral. Since then we've partnered with ClimateSmart to provide tools and technical assistance to other organizations interested in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Read our energy and environment stories.

Our values-based banking model calls on us to not only provide savvy financial products and services but to look at all the ways we can build our members' wealth and well-being.
