Vancity helps a community society amplify its impact in Port Coquitlam, BC

BC’s need for community-based mental health services has increased significantly over the past several decades due to deinstitutionalization policies. Community Integration Services Society (CISS) opened in 1990 to help meet this need.

CISS enables individuals with developmental disabilities to become active members of their community by providing training, volunteer and educational opportunities. After over 20 years of growth, CISS desperately needed to integrate its many small offices.

Vancity financed the purchase of two properties, including Melissa Park Lodge, which has helped CISS build equity and reduce expenses. Now CISS has a new savings goal: a place to call home for its North Shore location.
