Greater Victoria Housing Society builds affordable housing

As Kaye Melliship puts it, developing and managing rental property is not for the faint of heart. As executive director of the Greater Victoria Housing Society, one of British Columbia's largest not-for-profit housing societies, she has learned much about private-sector partnerships to build her society's impressive inventory of more than 739 rental apartments and townhouses in 14 buildings in Victoria, Saanich, Esquimalt and Colwood.

With Vancity as a financing partner, the society is continuing to acquire and develop rental properties so that there is sufficient affordable housing down the road for low- and moderate-income individuals and families.
