ZeBite has mastered the art of fast food

About this story

Growing up in Brittany, Mathieu Gicquel found joy in cooking. Both grandmothers, his uncle and his sister owned restaurants, so the idea of running one himself seemed perfectly natural. Last year, he decided to leave behind his successful engineering career to open a French-inspired food truck, ZeBite, riding the wave of the food truck craze that has swept Vancouver.

To secure start-up capital, Mathieu approached Vancity for a microloan and a line of credit. Vancity also helped Mathieu build his business plan, structure his program and prepare his presentation to get a permit.

Smack dab in the middle of a concrete jungle, Mathieu has managed to bring the French market feel to downtown Vancouver by inviting people to gather, share a laugh and enjoy a tasty meal. ZeBite’s meals are made from healthy ingredients, most of which are sourced locally with a focus on organic produce and meat.
