Vancity Board Director Maegen Giltrow stepping down to join BC Supreme Court

March 12, 2024, Territories of Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations/Vancouver B.C. - One of Vancity's nine board members, Maegen Giltrow, is stepping down following her appointment to the BC Supreme Court bench. The honour of serving on the provincial Supreme Court requires relinquishing the elected seat on the board of directors. Maegen, initially elected to Vancity's board in 2021 for a three-year term, officially resigned from her directorial role March 1.

“We are proud of Maegen's appointment but will miss her contributions and dedication to the governance of Vancity,” said Board Chair Rita Parikh. "We thank Maegen for her significant service as a Vancity board director and offer heartfelt congratulations from Vancity on her new appointment as a justice on BC's Supreme Court."

All credit union members have an opportunity to vote between April 8-26 for three new board members, including filling Maegen's former seat. Members will elect new directors for a three-year term starting in May 2024.

A total of eight director candidates are running in the board election, including two current directors running for re-election.

The Vancity Board relies on its directors to share in and continue to progress Vancity's vision of a transformed economy through a values-based financial institution that protects the earth and is accountable to Canada's largest community credit union's diverse membership.
