Young stylist launches a vintage-inspired contemporary salon

East Vanity Parlour

About this story

"We help people feel more self-confident and often that can make a big difference,” – Kristi Johanson, founder of East Vancity Parlour.

Kristi Johanson founded East Vanity Parlour in 2009 with two business partners. This Vancouver hair salon, famous for its reinvented vintage looks, has since incorporated and employs nine people. Kristi’s clients come to her for vintage-inspired haircuts in a relaxed environment that welcomes children and dogs, and it wasn’t long before her business grew to three chairs.

Vancity has supported Kristi from the beginning and recently provided a line of credit to help her salon move to a larger location on Main Street. Since the move business has doubled and East Vanity Parlour is planning to offer educational workshops soon.
