May 19: Vancity relocates White Rock Branch

Vancity relocates South Surrey/White Rock branch to high profile location

South Surrey – Vancity Credit Union has relocated its South Surrey/White Rock Community Branch to the high profile corner of 152nd Street and 18th Avenue.

The branch, which was previously in the Semiahmoo Centre, is now at 104-1790 152nd Street in South Surrey. In addition to the more central and visible location, benefits of the new site include a six-day-a-week opening, designated member parking, an additional 24-hour ATM, and an interior design that tastefully reflects the area with a waterfront and promenade theme. A new in-branch Internet banking kiosk will be added in the next few weeks.

The branch was designed with the help of feedback from focus groups held last year with local Vancity and community members who said they wanted a branch that would capture the look and feel of the community.

The new branch has a large skylight that makes it comfortably warm and bright, and a beachfront décor that includes a boardwalk, nautical bell and decorative kayaks.

“Vancity takes an individual approach to each new branch; our communities are all different and the branch experience should be too. Our members are proud of South Surrey/White Rock. So are we and we want them to feel that when they walk in,” says Branch Manager Angela Lam.

In addition to a unique interior, the branch will enhance its service with the upcoming addition of a mortgage development manager and an investment specialist. In addition, a designated wicket has been added to enhance service for business members.

Community groups will also benefit from the move. Each year Vancity gives a portion of its profits back to its members and community groups, including South Surrey/White Rock. This year, an additional $25,000 will go to deserving South Surrey/White Rock organizations to mark the move and reflect Vancity’s commitment to helping its communities thrive and prosper.
