Heart shines through in new iron workers training centre

How do show the pride you feel for the work you do? For the Iron Workers Union Local 97, a new office and training centre, made possible with $1.4M financing from Vancity, does just that. The union will use the centre to foster a community of 1800 workers and support growth in an already booming industry.

With this new property, located in Burnaby and central to the Greater Vancouver region’s network of businesses, the union has situated itself as a base for both new and seasoned workers. Providing training and mentorship, classrooms, and a place to connect with colleagues, the centre helps the union further its impact with business and the community. Vancity’s financing will also support the union’s various charities and philanthropic efforts.
