Vancouver and Vancouver Island Feast of Fields 2014

Vancouver Island Feast of Fields is happening this Sunday at Kildara Farms (11293 Chalet Rd, Sidney, BC) -- Sunday September 15, 2014, 1 pm - 5 pm.

Feast of Fields, a four hour wandering harvest festival, is FarmFolk CityFolk’s annual fundraising event. Each year a selected host farm is transformed into a magical gourmet picnic that celebrates the connections between farmer and chef, field and table, and farm folks and city folks. You are able to taste the very best of BC from chefs, farmers, fishers, ranchers, food artisans, vintners, brewers, distillers and other beverage producers from across the province. Feast of Fields is a gastronomic journey towards a sustainable, local food system. Last year they celebrated their 20th Anniversary; this year they are presenting the 17th Vancouver Island Feast!

Proceeds provide funding for their year-round operations, the development of new projects and their micro-loan program, partnered with Vancity, that supports our region's farmers and food processors.

FarmFolk CityFolk is a not-for-profit society that works to cultivate a local, sustainable food system. Their projects provide access to & protection of foodlands, support local growers and producers, and engage communities in the celebration of local food. Vancity has been a longtime supporter of their work and has funded their projects through the enviroFund program and community grants program.

Feast of Fields is their annual local food celebration and fundraiser, with proceeds from the event supporting the Local Food Micro-Loan Fund. The Fund is a partnership between FarmFolk CityFolk (FFCF), the Island Chef's Collabrative (ICC), and Vancity which provides zero interest micro loans to local food producers, supporting the growth of a local sustainable food system.
