As a long-standing community partner with the PNE, Vancity has supported the PNE in their zero waste initiatives since 2007. Year on year, we've helped expand PNE's environmental impact from a single day to all 15 days of The Fair. With an initial goal to divert 60% of the Fair's waste in 2017, the PNE has exceeded that goal by four percent and diverted 64%.

This year, the PNE will continue to accelerate its transition to sustainability, now turning its focus to Green Buildings, Green Lifestyles, and implementing a year-round zero-waste strategy.

This year, we will have Zero Waste Ambassadors roam the fairgrounds while carrying a portable game. They will approach fair guests waiting in line for food to play the game. Fair guests will be asked to sort waste into the proper bin and they will receive a $3 food/drink voucher for playing the game. Zero Waste Ambassadors will remind fair guests to STOP, THINK, and SORT at our zero waste stations.
