We have partnered up with PuSh Festival to present King Arthur’s Night. In a tale of love, honour and war, this production features a live band, a 20-person choir, and most importantly, an inclusive case. The creators and players in this drama, all professional, include people whose life experience includes Down syndrome.

Through this partnership, we will be hosting a pre-show reception and panel discussion themed: “How to Create Inclusive Communities for People with Disabilities” featuring two Presidents Group members before the performance at The Graduate Student Centre Penthouse .

Families Dealing with Mental Illness

North Shore Schizophrenia is hosting free 12 week sessions for families dealing with mental illness. Topics covered include: symptoms of illnesses (bipolar, schizophrenia, clinical depression, and anxiety), medications and communication, problem solving, advice on working with the system, and looking after yourself as a caregiver.

The course is taught by trained family members who themselves have ill relatives and many years’ experience dealing with the system. It will be of particular interest to families whose relatives have recently been diagnosed.

The Forum for Women's Entrepreneurs (FWE) designed Pitch for the Purse to address a key concern facing women entrepreneurs: access to capital. Three finalists will pitch at the Gala before an audience of 600+ business leaders and entrepreneurs. The Gala audience will select the winner of the $25K prize for best pitch!

The impact this creates is enhancing women's entrepreneurship in our trade region and providing capital to individuals who may require access to grow a business.

This year we have purchased a table at this event. We have supported some of these entrepreneurs through our microfinance program in the past. This is a great opportunity to enjoy and learn at an event focused on women's entrepreneurship, network and learn more about this impact area.
