Home energy upgrade rebates

To qualify for the rebate, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

• Be a current Vancity member in good standing
• Either:
  • (a) have an existing Vancity mortgage for the home you’re upgrading or
  • (b) be opening a new Vancity mortgage for the home you’re upgrading
• The home must be at least 12 months old
• The eligible upgrade must be installed by a contractor registered with Better Homes BC
• The eligible upgrades must have been completed after July 1, 2026.
• The rebate application must be submitted within three months of the upgrade completion date.

The rebate is available for:

• Single-family detached homes
• Duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes
• Condominium and apartments
• Townhomes and rowhomes
• Mobile homes

This rebate can be combined with eligible rebates from CleanBC, BC Hydro, and Fortis BC, including:

• Energy Savings Program
• Home Renovation Rebate Program

This rebate cannot be combined with the CleanBC Energy Conservation Assistance Program.

Members may apply for more than one eligible rebate per household, provided each rebate is for a different upgrade type. Only one rebate is available per upgrade type per household. For example, a household may only receive one heat pump rebate for a heat pump.

The Vancity rebate cannot exceed the paid cost of the upgrade.  If you combine the Vancity rebate with other eligible rebates, the Vancity rebate cannot exceed the remaining out-of-pocket cost of your upgrade after all other rebates have been applied.  If your upgrade costs $11,000 and other rebates cover $10,500, the amount of the Vancity rebate would be $500.
