Apple Pay

Yes, Apple Pay is a secure way to make transactions using your iPhone and Apple Watch. Every purchase is kept secure with Touch ID, Face ID, or your passcode to prevent strangers from using Apple Pay on your devices. There are no additional fees to use Apple Pay. Paying with your Vancity debit and/or credit cards through Apple Pay is the same as paying with your physical Vancity debit and/or credit cards, so any fees associated with the cards still apply.

Enjoy higher transaction limits at some merchants when you use Apple Pay with your Vancity debit and/or credit cards. Apple Pay has a maximum single transaction amount of $250. However, if you have any daily spending limits on your chequing or savings card account, they will still apply. Some merchants may also set lower transaction limits for tap payments with Apple Pay if they choose.

If you have a Find My iPhone locator app enabled on another device, such as another iPhone or iPad, you can put your missing iPhone in Lost Mode, track its location, and suspend or remove the ability to use Apple Pay on that device. You can also call our Member Services Centre (MSC) at 1-888-826-2489 from 8 am-8 pm Monday to Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm on Sundays, or our 24/7 Card Services at 1-800-611-8472 for help.

In the meantime, Apple Pay has security features that prevent unauthorized use of your debit and/or credit cards. Each time you make a payment with Apple Pay, you need to authorize the purchase with your Touch ID, Face ID, or passcode. Apple Pay also doesn’t store or share your private account information on your device or with anyone else.

Returning an item purchased using Apple Pay is similar to returning an item purchased using your physical debit or credit card. The cashier may need to look at the last four digits of your debit or credit card that was used to purchase the item or the Device Account Number, which can be found on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Depending on the return and refund policies of the store, it may take up to several days for the return transaction to appear on your Vancity account statement; also, certain stores may only be able to process your return using your physical card, or by cash. Anytime you make a purchase, it’s always a good idea to inquire about the store’s return policies.
