Innovation: The Shock of the Possible
Vancity partners with SFU Public Square to create dialogue around people-centred innovation in our local economy
About SFU Public Square's 2014 Community Summit
SFU's 2014 Community Summit, Innovation: The Shock of the Possible takes place from Sunday, October 19 to Wednesday, October 24. Through a series of events and activities, the summit intends to get people to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by innovation.
We're focused on issues important to our members by taking a values-based approach to the economy, society and the environment. Will Innovation Save Us?, and Business Innovation in the Local Economy form a two-part Vancity-SFU Public Square engagement event series designed to create dialogue around the topic of people-centred innovation.
The events add to our contribution to a global series of engagement initiatives and social media activity around the theme , as part of the first international awareness campaign of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV). We're one of the first Canadian financial institutions invited to join the GABV.
Will Innovation Save Us?

In partnership with SFU Public Square and Vancouver Foundation, we're proud to present Will Innovation Save Us? – an evening of thought-provoking and provocative discussion featuring Ray Kurzweil and Richard Florida, moderated by CBC’s Amanda Lang.

As a community credit union, we understand the power of local dollars. Our members’ deposits turn into member loans, so that more wealth gets invested, shared and spent in our communities. It’s called the local multiplier. And it creates strong businesses, communities and economies.
