Vancity receives three Bike Friendly Business Awards from HUB

Vancouver, B.C. - We’re thrilled to be recognized as a local leader by HUB: Your Cycling Connection.
At its inaugural Bike Friendly Business Awards held this month we collected three awards:
- Most Bike Friendly Building: Vancity Centre (head office)
- Best Bike Parking & Storage: Vancity Centre
- Most Bike Friendly Workplace Runner-up: Vancity
“We’re committed to providing bike friendly facilities and programs that support our employees and members to cycle and reduce their carbon footprint,' says Jeremy Trigg, director of facility & environmental management. “We've developed a variety of options to promote sustainable transportation, like providing bicycle maintenance services for our members, showers for employees and bicycle storage facilities.”
We encourage our employees to participate in annual events like Bike to Work Week, which we’ve sponsored in the Lower Mainland and Victoria since 2009. We also offer free HUB Bike to Work and Bike Maintenance workshops at Vancity Centre, for employees leading up to Bike to Work Week.
This past year, at The Fair at the PNE, we sponsored a bike valet service located inside PNE gates. This secure bicycle storage area was free for guests, encouraging people to cycle to The Fair. Since 2010, we’ve also provided a complimentary bike valet for members attending our Annual General Meeting.
