Nominations and Election Committee

Join the committee and help shape our elections.

The Nominations and Election Committee helps oversee the election process by interviewing applicants and identifying recommended candidates to our membership. Members selected to serve on the Committee begin their service every year in October.

Who is eligible?

You may be a great fit for our Nominations and Election Committee if you:

  • are aged 19 years or over;
  • are a Vancity member in good standing for at least one year prior to applying to be appointed to the Committee;
  • are not considered an immediate family¹ member to any Vancity employees;
  • have no unresolved credit issues, relevant civil court issues and/or criminal charges²;
  • demonstrate high integrity and ethical conduct and standards;
  • are not currently employed, or have been employed within the past two years, by Vancouver City Savings Credit Union, any of its subsidiaries, or the Vancity Community Foundation; and/or;
  • have reviewed and abide by the Code of Conduct for Vancity Group Employees

What are the qualifications?

Applicants should have all or some of the following qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • serving on selection committees, conducting interviews, and assessing applicants³; and/or
    • serving on a board or reporting to a board;
  • Leadership:
    • demonstrated community or other leadership roles; and/or
    • decision-making ability;
  • Strong communication skills, effective judgment, respect for others, integrity, and listening skills;
  • Reflect the communities Vancity serves to ensure diversity of thought, background, and experience;
  • Understanding of:
    • Vancity’s mission and values, and co-operatives in general;
    • financial, social, and environmental performance and impact; and
    • election practices, governance, the financial industry, and social media;
  • The ability to make a substantial commitment of time from October.

Is there an honorarium?

Non-director members of the Committee will receive an honorarium of $5,500.00 following the completion of the Committee's work.
