Credit Card Service Upgrade

We’re deferring our planned credit card services upgrade from Mon. Nov. 5, 2018 to Mon. Jan. 14, 2019. The new launch date will help ensure the upgrade is as seamless as possible for Vancity enviro™ Visa* cardholders. During the upgrade, you can use your credit card to make purchases as usual. The updated Vancity Credit Card Agreement, Certificate of Insurance and Vancity Rewards™ terms and conditions will be effective Friday, January 11, 2019. Learn more »

On Monday, January 14, we’re improving your rewards experience and making it easier to manage your credit card account.

Some improvements you’ll notice include:

* There will be some temporary service interruptions so make sure you get ready for the upgrade.

Simpler way to log in

Starting January 14, instead of logging into multiple websites to manage your enviro Visa card and redeem reward points, you’ll only need to log in once on the updated Manage my Visa card website.

This new site will look a little different but you’ll be able to log in with your current username and password. After the upgrade, only Primary Cardholders and Account Administrators will have access to the rewards website to redeem points (if applicable).

FAQ: What’s the difference between a Primary Cardholder, an Account Administrator and an Authorized User?

See all your enviro Visa account details in online banking

When you log into Vancity online banking or the mobile app after the upgrade, you’ll see your enviro Visa (for personal use) account information, balances, available credit, and transactions. Primary cardholders will also see future eStatements (desktop only), payment information and reward points (if applicable).

Only members with enviro Classic Visa or enviro Gold Visa accounts will see their accounts in online banking. These changes will not apply to enviro ExpenseGold Visa accounts.

FAQs

How will I access my enviro Visa account online?

Currently, you use two different logins to access My Visa Account to manage your Visa card and My Visa Rewards Plus to redeem reward points. Effective Monday, January 14, after the credit card services upgrade, you’ll simply log in at Manage my Visa card to manage your card online.

If your Visa card earns reward points, once you log into the updated Manage my Visa card website, you’ll be able to redeem points on the Vancity Rewards website without logging in again.

Vancity members: You’ll also be able to view your enviro Visa card (for personal use) account details in Vancity online banking and mobile app (Personal banking only). Read ‘Will I be able to view my enviro Visa account details in online banking?’ below for more details.

We’re also pleased to announce that we’ll launch eStatements for Visa accounts with the credit card services upgrade in January. You’ll be able to opt out of receiving paper statements in the mail, too. Your future statements will be downloadable on Vancity online banking and Manage my Visa card.

Will I be able to view my enviro Visa account details in online banking?

Yes. Many members have been asking for a consolidated view of all of their Vancity accounts for a long time, which is why we’re excited to introduce this improvement.

Starting Monday, January 14, Vancity members who log into online banking or the mobile app (Personal banking only) will be able to view their enviro Visa card accounts (for personal use) in their Account Summary.

If you don’t see your enviro Visa cards in online banking starting Monday, January 14, call us toll-free at 1-800-877-4543 with your card handy. If you’re the Authorized User, you’ll also need to provide some of the Primary Cardholder’s information.

To see your enviro Visa account in the Vancity mobile app, you’ll need to update the app to the newest version on starting Monday, January 14. To update the mobile app, visit the App Store or Google Play on your mobile device.

How is the My Visa Rewards Plus program changing?

We’re improving the rewards program and website and changing the name from My Visa Rewards Plus to Vancity Rewards. The value of your points will be easier to understand and you’ll have more reward options starting at 2,000 points ($20 rewards value).

We also discontinued merchandise rewards on Thursday, October 4. You’ll still be able to redeem points for financial rewards (cash back), travel, gift cards and charitable donations. Starting January, we’ll offer more gift card options.

Who are Primary Cardholders, Account Administrators and Authorized Users?

The Primary Cardholder is the person who applied for the Visa account (for personal use). They’re responsible for all charges on the Visa account, whether they were incurred by the Primary Cardholder or Authorized User. They own all the reward points earned on the account and can redeem them.

The Account Administrator of a Visa account (for business use) is the person the Authorized Signatory has designated to be Vancity’s main point of contact with the Business. For Visa accounts that were opened before January 11, 2019, the Account Administrator is the first person who signed the original Visa Card application on behalf of the Business, or another person who the Authorized Signatories have since designated. Account Administrators can redeem reward points.

The Authorized User has a credit card with their name on it, issued on the Primary Cardholder’s or Business’ Visa card account. The cards we issue to Authorized Users are sometimes called ‘supplementary cards’ or ‘additional cards’.

Authorized Users will only be able to view their own transactions online, along with general information such as available credit and credit limit. The reward points belong to the Primary Cardholder or the Business and can only be redeemed by them. Authorized Users will not be able to redeem points, unless they have been designated as an 'Authorized Redeemer' by the Primary Cardholder, Account Administrator or Authorized Signatory.
