Limiting your liability

Security Guarantee
If you incur losses due to unauthorized online banking or debit card transaction activity you will be reimbursed as long as you fulfill all of your responsibilities under the Account and Services Guide. For business members, the same security guarantee applies under the Business Direct Access Services Agreement. Remember, if you choose to use services (including third-party online financial management organizations ) that require you to provide your online banking information and passwords, you do so at your own risk.

Your chip and PIN Visa card is also protected. If your card has been fraudulently used, you will be protected under the Visa Zero Liability policy. Please see your cardholder agreement for further details.

An important note regarding fraudulent cheques
Cheque fraud is a different kind of financial instrument or tool, and as such, different member liability rules apply. If you spend money from a deposited cheque that turns out to be fraudulent, you are liable for those funds, and funds from the fraudulent cheque will be charged back to your account.

For this reason, we strongly urge all members to educate yourself about the risks of cheque fraud and – most importantly – do not spend any funds from a cheque until it has been cleared from the financial institution. Learn more about cheque fraud – what it is, what we’re doing and what you can do to protect yourself.
