Mobile Text Banking FAQs

Here's a top-level look at some questions you might have about Mobile Text Banking with VNCTY.

How do I text VNCTY?

If your phone allows it, simply text your command to the five letters VNCTY. Some smart phones don't allow you to text VNCTY on their keyboard. In this case, you may text your command to 86289, which is the equivalent. The letters VNCTY make up 86289 on a regular keyboard.

How much does it cost to use Mobile Text Banking?

There is no charge for Vancity account balance enquiries, bill payments, transfers to, from or between Vancity accounts. See our Personal Account Services and Fees schedule for details of fees on our other services. Check with your mobile phone or mobile device service plan provider fees related to your plan.

So, I need Online Banking access with Vancity first?

Yes. Just pop into any Vancity branch, and we'll get you set up for Online Banking. No problem at all.

Is my personal information secure with Mobile Text Banking?

Very. Much the same as an ATM slip, the only details that are ever going to be transmitted will be your account balance or recent account activity. There will be no way for you – or anyone else – to make changes to your account, remove funds, or access any of your personal information.

I need to stop my Mobile Text Banking service, what do I do?

If you lose your mobile phone, just log into Online Banking, and select Mobile Text Banking from the left-hand navigation and either disable or delete your cell phone. If you can't access your Online Banking, but have your mobile phone, simply text the word STOP to VNCTY (86289) and your mobile phone will be permanently deleted from Online Banking.

Yikes! What if I misplace my phone or (gulp!) it's stolen?

We recommend you disable your phone from the Mobile Text Banking service as soon as you realize your phone is missing. Simply log into Online Banking, and select Mobile Text Banking from the left-hand navigation and either disable or delete your cell phone.

Will Mobile Text Banking work when I am visiting my Grandma in Arizona, my cousin in New York, and my friends in Seattle?

If your cell phone carrier has a roaming agreement with a foreign carrier, Mobile Text Banking should work. However, please note that because the service is outside of Canada, you may run into challenges.
