BC’s Aboriginal business community gains strength and builds capacity

About this story

The Industry Council for Aboriginal Business (ICAB) was formed to bring together Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businesses through procurement and leadership exchanges. ICAB recently launched the British Columbia Aboriginal Business Association (BCABA) to provide educational and professional services to entrepreneurs and small businesses. Vancity has long supported BC’s Aboriginal community and recently provided ICAB a line of credit.

ICAB’s high-impact work fosters a strong local economy, which means success for all communities. BCABA Marketplace has many free and member-only benefits including two hours of legal advice and two hours of IT consultation.

Brenda Ireland, Executive Director of ICAB, says the organization is working towards increasing membership and event attendance to achieve independence from federal funding.
