Theodora Lamb

Theodora is a passionate community organizer, who brings her skills and experience in digital advocacy and community engagement to Vancity's Board of Directors.

Elected in 2014, Theodora was inspired to join the Board after being a member-at-large on Vancity's Nominations and Election Committee for three years. She was impressed by the cohesive, consensus-building approach she experienced working with Vancity's Board and staff, and felt passionate about the opportunity to represent so many communities, members and interests across British Columbia.

Theodora is devoted to building networks for social change. She is the principal of Cicada Community Consulting which helps progressive and values-aligned organizations build, activate, support and inspire their member communities both on and offline. Theodora produces Social Change Institute, Social Venture Institute Hollyhock and Social Venture Institute Vancouver with Hollyhock’s Leadership Institute. She has worked in online community strategy, facilitation and organizing alongside many organizations, including the District of Mission, Vancouver Street Soccer League, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Mountain Equipment Co-op's TheBigWild.org, Family Services of Greater Vancouver, and BC Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Theodora holds a bachelor of fine arts in theatre from the University of Victoria and a diploma of technology in broadcast journalism from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She has worked as an instructor at Simon Fraser University, teaching public relations in the continued studies program. Theodora is also a board member with the British Columbia Co-operative Association.

She grew up in Tsawwassen and now calls East Vancouver’s Commercial Drive her home. She lives there with her husband, Kurt, and their rescue dog, Bean, a West Highland Terrier. Theodora and Kurt are expecting their first child in fall 2016. Together, they love to go walking through the East Village neighbourhood where they frequent many of the local grocery shops and Italian delis.

Theodora is a proud member of the Commercial Drive community branch and loves checking out their display space for local products and services known as "The Gift".
