Vancity's farmers market partnership

Vancity is continuing to support the purchase of local and organic food through our partnership with the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM). Our new program will give away $5 vouchers which can be redeemed at your local farmers’ markets.

Why is Vancity focusing on local and organic foods?

In alignment with Vancity’s core pillar of environmental sustainability, this year’s summer events will highlight the key theme of Lighter Living – a focus on providing greater access to sustainable products and the shared use of good and services, including a visit to your local farmers’ market.

Join us under the Vancity tent at our various community events to explore Lighter Living this summer through our newly designed Lighter Living Challenge activation. To show our commitment to our theme, we have committed to producing less waste in our giveaways. Rather than cheap plastic items, event guests will receive even more enriching experiences with their gift of a $5 voucher to visit their local farmers’ market.

Did you know that buying local means 33% of business revenues are recirculated into the local economy? That’s almost double what's recirculated when you buy from big multinational stores in the same industry. Vancity's geographic region includes over 30 farmers’ markets, each with a unique variety of farmers and makers who can help us learn more about what foods are available locally and how our food is grown. Simply by buying local and banking with Vancity, you're also investing in your local community.

Where to redeem your voucher?

Restrictions: Valid for the purchase of food or farm products only. Vouchers cannot be used for purchase of alcohol or exchanged for cash. No change can be given. Void if duplicated. Offer ends Monday, September 30, 2019.
