Our hiring process

We value inclusiveness and diversity, and we welcome people of all skill levels and backgrounds to apply for positions within our organization. For applications from persons with disabilities we will actively seek to make any reasonable adjustments to our hiring process in order to adapt it to the needs of a specific individual and ensure fairness and equity. To discuss your needs please contact us at recruitment@vancity.com.

The application process

Before you submit your application, please read the job posting carefully to ensure you possess the relevant skills and experience, as only qualified applicants will be considered. You are welcome to apply for more than one position at a time if multiple positions match your qualifications and interests.

When you apply, you will be asked to create a candidate profile and complete some application questions to help us get to know you better.

Once you submit your application, you will receive an automated notification to confirm your application has been received. If you are short-listed for a position, we will contact you to move forward to the next step. If you're not selected for a specific posting, we encourage you to continue applying for future positions that match your qualifications and interest.

The interview process

If you are selected for an interview, we'll contact you directly to set it up. Most positions require a minimum of two interviews: an initial interview with a member of the recruitment team and a second interview with the hiring manager and a panel of Vancity staff who have a working relationship with the position you are applying for.

Typically, the third and final interview will be with the hiring manager's manager. This is an opportunity for you to discuss your potential career path at Vancity in greater detail and see how it fits into Vancity's vision and three-year plan.

The interview process can vary depending on the opportunity available, but we will always inform you ahead of time so you'll know what's coming next and have time to prepare.

The job offer

If you're the strongest applicant for the position, we'll conduct any criminal, credit, and reference checks the position requires. Upon successful completion of these checks, we'll make you an offer of employment.

Some positions may require us to conduct additional verifications or testing prior to your start date. If that's the case, we'll let you know about these requirements ahead of time.

Orientation

We recognize that accepting a new job is a big step, and we're available to answer any questions you may have prior to starting your first day at work. We'll also provide you with access to a pre-boarding website where you can find additional information about Vancity, your new position, and receive guidance in preparing for a successful transition.

Within your first few months, you can expect to connect with community partners, members and employees to learn how Vancity is redefining wealth.
